Valentines Day is on Saturday, and the cheesy monster inside of me is so goddamn excited. I love Valentines Day. I’ll wait here while you roll your eyes.

I am used to all of the complaining about it how it’s a corporate holiday, and people shouldn’t need Valentines Day to do something nice for their partner, and its lame and stupid and blah blah blah. But those are the most boring excuses to not have fun, maybe ever.

This cartoon in The Oatmeal summed up my feelings perfectly:

I jump at the chance to celebrate loved ones and eat chocolate and wear pretty undies. Why the hell not? I love all of those things, why wouldn’t I do all of them on the same day? And being unattached is not an excuse. Who cares. I have had tons of fun on Valentines Day without a partner, but regardless of whether I am with someone or not, I am wearing pretty undies and eating chocolate.

As for the gift giving side of things, that feels less important to me. I would rather something made out of construction paper. But for those of you who feel inclined, here are some great options from people who took the time to make a list.
