Sometimes you gotta run away.  So when my equally peripatetic buddy Claire asked me to join her in Saigon for a couple of days, I couldn’t say no.  This year is all about living boldly, isn’t it?  So I hopped on a six hour bus ride…because it was a six hour bus ride, crossed the border, and found myself in this bustling metropolis filled with what feels like a billion motorbikes.  I plan on eating all of this over the 36 hours I’m here, discovering all the secrets this city is keeping hidden…behind the billion motorbikes.  You’ll hear more about that next week.

Speaking of runaways, I have a list.  They are always cities.  Because those are the places I can hideaway best. The places I can discover my true self and get inspired again. Places that I would spend time in, alone.  In a bookstore, a cafe, a park, or just on a heavily trod sidewalk.  Perhaps its because I’m descended from city folk.  And I may be an athiest agnostic blah blah blah technically Catholic, but I like places with a ton of history and spirituality.  The kind of city that feels heavy. But don’t they all? In any case, I wanted to list out those places where you might find me hidden sometime.  Where others have run to before, places I might seek when that TeuxDeux list gets too big. Even if it is only for 36 hours.

PS – You saw the NYTimes’ 52 Places to Go in 2016, right?
