Join the CULT

Don’t worry, the blog hasn’t take a turn for the weird, yet at least.

This CULT stands for “Cambodia’s Ultimate Lifestyle Trade” and was founded by Ludi and Katia, the cool kids behind Bee Vintage and Good Krama. These two chicks wanted to bring together the Phnom Penh community in a fun way, while highlighting the artists and designers in town that are doing awesome, creative, sustainable stuff. And when we met up with these wonderful ladies last week, they had just partnered up with Cleanbodia, who will be supplying the event with biodegradable shopping bags! These little guys take the sustainable part of shopping at this market up a notch and are made with organic matter like cassava and coconut instead of plastic. This makes us beyond happy.

This is going to be a monthly event (YAY!) and we get to look forward to the second Thursday of the month with CULT. The first one is this Thursday, June 9 at Cloud (#32E0, street 9, Phnom Penh). With sponsorship from Cloud, The Pelican Food Company and Cleanbodia.

C + T + Good Krama

Remember that little piece we did on Good Krama last week? Well, we are partnering with the team over there to host a pop-up shop this Saturday at La Familia‘s gorgeous outpost, La Casita.

The pop up will feature the new collection from Good Krama, including some pieces that we haven’t even seen yet! Per usual, the team at La Casita will be serving up delicious custom cocktails and there will be complimentary small bites, courtesy of Artillery.

The party starts at 4pm and wraps up around 8. Show up early for the best availability and sizes, and best chance at food and drinks before C+T tag team and eat it all. There will even been a lucky draw with fantastic prizes, so you are going to want to get in on that as well.

Happy Hour at Deco

Last Thursday night, we attended the inaugural Happy Hour at Deco in Phnom Penh. If you live in Cambodia, and you do not know about Deco, you are doing it wrong. It’s a fantastic restaurant, run by wonderful people and one of the most consistently delicious places in the city. You should go there right now.

John, our resident booze guru, joined Deco’s owner, Rob, behind the bar to mix, shake and stir a range of creative, and crazy delicious cocktails. On the menu were classics, like the Dark and Stormy, and what might be the best Old Fashioned in the city. But they also put in a few twists, with John’s signature Kampot Fizz and the Riverside Reviver, which should probably be consumed daily. The crowd kept them busy throughout the evening, and it was wonderful to see so many of our favorite people in one place to support these guys. The night was a huge success, and Deco will now be hosting Happy Hour, every weekday, from 5-7pm.

tonlé pop up market + sesame anniversary party : Best Saturday EVER

Our buddies over at tonlé are hosting a pop up market this Saturday! We are excited to head over there and indulge in their gorgeous, conscious fashion. It starts at 11am and goes on until 5pm, so all of you Phnom Penh-ers will have time to get shopping done before all of the obligatory holiday happy hours you have committed to. Or….

Head over to Sesame for their anniversary party! These guys have been serving up their most-delicious cold noodles and snacks for 2 years, and for the sake of the Penh, we hope they never stop. Come by to celebrate and grab some tasty bites from 6-9pm.

In other tonlé news, cait and tiff are totally famous super models now. We had so much fun goofing around with the tonlé girls during their photo shoot a few weeks ago and we were surprised/honored that they decided to use this photo of us for their US launch announcement!
