Welcome to the second installment of our 2015 Gift Guide. In case you missed the first one last week, we shared a few ideas for the artsy loves in your life. This week we are focusing on all things edible. Because the main take away from the holiday season is that there is never enough food. I come from a family of food. It’s the center of holiday, vacation, and daily life. My mom and I constantly talk about what we are going to have for dinner, during lunch time. So this list is important stuff, and I will be judged for it. The first item, the chocolates from Lowery’s Candies, are the most important. I wrote about it last year, and I will write about it again next year. It’s a family business out of Muncie, Indiana, and they are the best chocolates I have ever had. They don’t have fancy branding, or a cool website, but they are better than any overly-curated hipster brand. My grandparents sent them to us every Christmas. And the other things are great also. The AeroPress is the reason I was a nice person in London, and that crazy taffy comes in EGGNOG, people. My friend Amanda, who runs Salt & Sundry in DC, stocks this awesome vinegar, and those knives make me want steak. Lastly, who doesn’t want to be a member of the cookie-of-the-month club? No one doesn’t want that. That’s a double negative. You’re a double negative.

If I had infinite funds, all of these would go to my foodie pals. The syrups in particular are my big discovery this year, ever since Jen poured a little tonic syrup over my cold brew a few weeks back, and Cait topped up some dark rum with Morris Kitchen’s Spiced Apple Syrup, I’ve been hooked. So these little bottles of delicious are going to all the mixology nerds out there. And yes, I’m aware that a calendar isn’t exactly edible, but the things in it are. Ever since I saw Molly Yeh’s collab with Brown Parcel Press, I knew it would make the perfect accompaniment to any baker’s kitchen.
