I can’t say no to a Freunde von Freunden video.  I definitely can’t ignore one that travels all the way to India.  And more so a piece that focuses on textiles as they are one of the first topics that Cait and I first connected over.

So when FvF giddily shared a preview of this video featuring a family that has been dying and printing fabric in Jaipur, India for four generations, I knew that I had to share this. Vijendra Chippa, descendant of all that knowledge and practice and armed with the business skills to take it global, now owns and manages Bagru Textiles, which brings consumers and designers, like Block Shop, directly to artisans to purchase and produce textiles.  Environmentally conscious as they work with natural dyes. A social enterprise that promotes the community.  And pretty things.  I can’t think of a better combination.  It also inspires me to keep searching for those special items that come with a story.  The kind you keep forever and pass down through the years.  And there is so much for be discovered for us living in Asia, and for those who are just about to experience it.  Happy Monday!

PS – Also check out this piece from Remodelista about how two designers have worked with Bagru Textiles.
